Shopper fields are not displaying on cart
In the Virtuemart Shopper Fields there are the following options of where the fields can be shown on the front end:
Published Show in cart form Show in shipment form Show in account maintenance
We notice that in order for a field to apear in the VMUIKIT checkout page the option 'Show in account maintenance' must be checked, Show in Cart is not effective. The issue we have is that with Show in account maintenance being used to allow fields to display in the cart we cannot remove unwanted fields from account maintenance.
With VMUIKIT and OPC switched off we notice that these shopper fields options work as expected and we can select which fields we want to show in account maintenance and which we want in the cart.
What is the fix for this please?
We are looking into how other Onepage solutions have done this. We will update you soon here.
Why do you want to have some fields showing in the "checkout form" and not in "Account maintenance" ?
You could also try the normal cart in VM .. See if you can get it to work as you want there. Sometimes the Onepage we have is not the perfect solution to all kinds of shops. Thats just the way it is sometimes. Its hard to make a onepage work for every special kind of shop.
Card Message, Special Delivery Instructions and Notes are a bit special ... Notes can be empty I suppose.
See image attached - Actually the field 'customer_note' is included in the standard installation of Virtuemart and you are using it in the cart, now as a pop-up on a button. We should be able to simply un-check this field under 'account maintenance' for it to be removed from the Account Maintenance' page.
Are you actually rendering 'Account Maintenance' in your OPC rather than 'Cart' as would be expected.
And why would any shop have 'Notes and Special Requests' in the shopper's details? Surely this is order specific not shopper specific?
In this case it seems VMUIKT is actually downgrading the versatility of Virtuemart by overriding existing functionality. Surely this is not what you want to achieve? I appreciate that maybe another cart makes the same mistake but we want to be better than our competitors don't we, not simply as bad as?
Please can you look again at reverting this back to how it was created in vmart, using cart fields in the OPC rather than account maintenance, so that your OPC does not wipe out standard Virtuemart functionality?

This is a normal practice for all One Page Checkout products. It is a bit strange but this is the way it works to get every required field in a checkout process. You can see it as one setting for ALL fields in the checkout process.

Yes, we discussed this yesterday and we are looking into making the "Comment" not show here ... we could add this comment field completely outside the onepage checkout. And just have a setting in the plugin for this field (Show Notes and Special Requests - yes/no). And if its on yes it will add the text area and save it to the correct place in VM orders in database.
We are looking into the second option
